Broken font files may affect your applications and even the computer's performance. Fixing these problems with standard tools can be difficult and it may cause further damage to your system. FontDoctor is capable of identifying various font issues. The software will fix them right away, without any risk to your system. What's more, FontDoctor can organize your font collection quite fast, with minimum effort from your part.

It is not difficult to download and install the software and it will not take long either. The setup package is 3.29 MB and you just need to make a few basic settings in order to install FontDoctor's components. It works on Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7, as well as the 10.5 or higher Mac OS X platform.

FontDoctor interface is simple and very easy to understand. Options for diagnosing fonts and organizing them are located on different tabs. To fix font-related issues, you have to click a button, in the lower right corner of the window and select a fonts directory. The application will start scanning immediately and it will display the results on the same window. While scanning, FontDoctor will check for missing PostScript fonts, font file structure issues, missing bitmap fonts and duplicates. If one or more of these tests fail, the program will place various options at your disposal, on a separate window.

If you want to organize your fonts, you may choose to sort them in alphabetical folders, create family name folders and foundry name folders. It is also possible to set the program to delete the original files and empty folders, when the sorting is complete. You can target all fonts on a partition or select a specific folder.

The software gives you the possibility of generating, saving and printing reports as well. Once you diagnose your fonts, you can bring up a text report or a pie chart, on separate windows. The pie chart illustrates the number of found issues, for each test, and you can save it as an image, in JPEG format.

Pros

The application is capable of diagnosing and fixing your fonts. Additionally, you can organize your fonts collection, using various criteria and settings. FontDoctor is very easy to use. It takes only a few clicks to fix and organize a huge amount of font files.

Cons

You can not organize your fonts with the program's trial version. If you have any problems with your font files, FontDoctor will fix them in a matter of seconds.
